We have decided to combine our family reunion with a proper holiday for everyone. What better place to meet up other than Africa?! So we headed for a week of safari in Kenya to finish it by the beach in Zanzibar, Tanzania! Quite the adventure!
The Kenyans were so welcoming, big genuine smile with a loud 'Jumbo'!
We've hired a safari truck with a company driver to show us around, very well recommended by the way. We got very lucky because Joseph was as enlightening as an encyclopaedia. He knew his flora and fauna like the back of his hand.
The locations were spectacular, between Nakuru lake and the Masai Mara, we saw a variety of animals, actually, every animal in the book basically! We even experienced the wildebeests' river crossing/ migration through the Mara river infested with crocs and hippos.
Our day would start from a 5:00 o'clock wake up call to a rushed breakfast then off on the safari truck to see the animals to come back for lunch, rest a bit, then another 4 hours' drive off-road to experience the wilderness again.
Just when you think you have seen it all, you get a bonus surprise like a leopard up the tree, a baby elephant chasing birds or hyenas outside your hotel room where Masai guards are patrolling in case wild animals decide to venture closer.
After a week of wilderness, we headed to Tanzania to relax on the beach in Zanzibar. There, we met with extended family and had a fantastic time. The place was breath taking. Photos do not even give this paradise justice. We had a fantastic time between snorkelling, drinking cocktails and dipping our fingers in exotic fruits.
I genuinely cannot describe the special moments and our pictures are just a mere snippets of these memories which will stay in our hearts for ever.
Did we have fun?
