Seals on the Menu:

It was a bit cold, a bit damp but still windy which never stopped Michael from jumping on the board and out on the ocean with his kite. But today was different. What stopped our loyal kite surfer this time you may ask...
Well you see for yourself this sign on the beach...

It is whale season and with it a trail of sharks behind them lurking and waiting for the right moment to grab the sickly and the little ones. Today it was a mauled seal on the beach. I hope it is not the same playful one I see often on my Saturday morning runs...

Traffic in Perth..I Love it!

I found my zen moment, not sure if you can say that but what I mean is I managed to beat the system by enjoying traffic...The secret: Audio books!

On the way to work, I get stuck in traffic. After the 2nd week, I have had enough! I had to do something. It was not like I could buy myself a chopper or a private jet anytime soon.
So I went to the local library and Voila! In 4 months, I managed to listen to:

Solar and On Chesil beach by Ian McEwan,
The night circus by Erin Morgenstern, (Brilliant performance and narration from Mr. Dale)
The sense of an ending by Julian Barnes ,
Unaccustomed earth by Jhumpa Lahiri and a few others...

Now I am enjoying Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie, beautiful masterpiece. You should try Half of a yellow sun which I read a few years back, absolutely mesmerizing.

I am not sure which I enjoy the most, the book itself or the narrators!
I bow to their magical performance and thank them for carrying me with them to the clouds of imagination where possibilities occur.
Not that I needed an excuse to be a dreamer in la-la- land!

Tomorrow morning, I am going to the library again to get 2 more audio books...Can't wait. It may sound silly to some but I am really really enjoying these books. I feel like a little kid in a candy store...

Next time you get stuck in traffic, find something you enjoy listening to, perhaps a comedy play.
Believe me, it is uplifting and cheerful.

Oh No We are Not Old!

Ever wanted to cosy up under some soft blankets and watch a movie at home? Especially when there is a storm outside brewing where the wind is howling and the rain is pouring down but horizontally?
Well, Skye was due for a sleepover and we were not going to miss our chance of a lifetime.
Oh No we are not old! Going out in Perth was not easy for us. Between hiring a baby sitter and figuring out transport, it got the fun out of things sometimes but this time we have organised it all to the last detail!
We figured if Skye could do her first sleep over so we won't have to worry about the details and we know that she will be in good hands, and , and we did not have to come home at an early hour...

And off we went.

Large Arctic Coat: Check.
I.D. Card: Check.
Nice dress: Check.
Good friends and company: Check
Oh yes and husband: Check. ( Just kidding :)).
Train tickets: Check.
Location targeted: Check.

( photo taken from Showmeperth'swebsite).
And off we went.
Let me tell you this. I have not had so much fun in years! I did forget a small detail though...to stop drinking when I felt a bit lightheaded! That was always my rule but I guess I have not gone out clubbing for a while.
By the 4rth place, I lost count...Not sure where we went, I am sure we went to more than 8 clubs/ pubs.
But I know where we landed and I enjoyed it the best! We ended up in Air, yes Air is a nightclub in Perth, don't ask me where it is, I DON'T REMEMBER, but I know I got there and I was GOBSMACKED!

Amazing decor and the staff was very friendly. The music and the crowd were as they were supposed to be, loud and vibrant! I had the best night in Perth...How do I know that? Well, the last thing I remember was looking at the time before slamming my head into the pillow and it was after 4:30 a.m. and that does not usual happen and of course, you can tell by the next day whether you had fun or not...
Well that is a different story which I am still paying the price for. Panadol anyone?

Father's Day from Skye:

We treated our dad with steak and cake, every man's favorite
meal, most men...

Then we showered him with home made gifts, drawings and picture frames.
